City of Portage Campfire Pit Specifications:

* Must be 25 feet from any structure or property line

* Made out of a non-combustible material such as brick or rock

* Cannot be built under any low overhanging branches

* Bare earth in the middle of the pit

* No larger than three feet in diameter

* Must have a water source available to put the fire out such as a garden hose

* Fire must be out by midnight

* For food preparation only. No burning of leaves, brush or other yard waste

* Excessive smoke will be cause to have fire extinguished

* Wind speeds must be under 10 mph before starting fire

* Cost for the permit is $5, made to the City of Portage (paid through the Fire Marshall)

* A two year permit will be issed after satisfactory inspection is completed
